Dressing for success

Friday, October 31st, 2008

If Bret and I could have gone to Adam’s Halloween party, here’s what we’d be wearing:

Since we couldn’t go to Florida, we’re just wearing them to work instead.

Happy Halloween, everyone!

It is by will alone I set my mind in motion …

Feng Shui works on a blog, right?

I set these words here with honest and serious intent. I speak with full intention that this become truth.

I AM GOING TO ADAM’S HALLOWEEN PARTY ON NOVEMBER 1, 2008.

I am open to the power of the universe in helping this to occur.

UPDATE: It has been suggested that I put up a donation button to help fund my trip in return for some outrageous act of gratitude. I’m desperate enough to consider this. Opinions? Comments? Questions?

UPDATE #2: The universe has spoken. And the answer was an emphatic NO. When the universe speaks emphatically, I listen. And that’s enough about that.

All Souls’ Day

A big thank-you to everyone who participated — as poster or player or both — in Behind The Mask yesterday! It was great fun, and led many of us to new blogs we’d yet to discover. I know, just what we all need: more blogs to read.

I was quite pleased that I guessed all of Nat’s mystery bloggers correctly, even though I was only familiar with three of them. The others I identified by visiting their blogs and looking for clues. Unfortunately, that technique didn’t help me one damn bit with Suze’s! Here at Pseudotherapy, Hilly and Ajooja each got 8 right, but the only person to correctly identify all 10 of my mystery bloggers was Cake Lady. Who are you, Cake Lady, and how is it that you know my blog friends even better than they know themselves?!?!

The correct answers were:
1. Sizzle (Who didn’t even recognize herself!)
2. Kim (Come on now, who else brings Siths into a conversation?)
3. Dave2 (I thought this one would be too easy, but most people thought it was Avi or Neil)
4. Hilly (One of my favorite quotes of ALL TIME)
5. Karl (Another I figured would be obvious)
6. Catherine (Isn’t she so cute?!?!)
7. Kevin (The Lemon Drop reference was supposed to mislead people. It didn’t.)
8. Liz (Ask me how many people I’ve emailed this quote to!)
9. Neil (Believe it or not, he’s talking about cheesecake)
10. Ajooja (The quote that caused me to do one of the most embarrassing things I’ve ever done in my life, but that’s another story, and the two people who know it better STFU!!!!!)

I signed up for NaBloPoMo again this year. Here’s hoping I stick with it! At least I’ve got Day One down.

Happy Hallowmeme: Behind The Mask

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

behind-the-mask-badgeHappy Halloween, everyone! Welcome to my version of Behind The Mask: Who’s That Blogger? Below you will find 10 quotes from some of my favorite bloggers. See if you can identify who said what from the list of names provided (more names than quotes, btw), and post your guesses in the comments. Feel free to browse their blogs in search of clues. And if you’re a blogger who’s posting your own version of Behind The Mask, let me know in the comments and I’ll add your link!

Choose from these bloggers:
Laughing Muse of Title Deleted For Security Reasons
Kevin of Kapgar
Hilly of Snackie’s Pudge-Free World
Dave2 of Blogography
Catherine of [The Seventh Notebook]
Ajooja of ajooja
Liz of Everyday Goddess
Neil of Citizen of the Month
Sizzle of Sizzle Says
Avitable of Avitable
Diana of Americans in Singapore
Karl of Secondhand Tryptophan
Kim of ilaxSTUDIO

And here are the quotes:

1. Don?t you think we all hit a point in our lives where we have to shed ourselves in some respect to make room for what has been growing inside of us?

2. I try to avoid using absolutes (only a Sith deals in absolutes), but it applies here.

3. Women throw boobies in our faces and, as if by magic, our money disappears.

4. Like a patchwork, lost loves are sewn into our heart no matter what we say or feel.

5. They want me to know that, while I’m “some special kind of fucked up,” I’m not pathologically fucked up.

6. I heart the mens, they rule.

7. Sopping wet, we went straight to our favorite watering hole and picked up some chips and salsa, beers, and Lemon Drop shots.

8. You’re not truly ready for a healthy relationship until you are honestly happy without one.

9. It?s a whole lot less time-consuming pleasing her orally this way than spending all night with your face between her thighs.

10. Losing love hurts as much as a death in the family. As much as I love being in love, I think I’d rather have happiness in other forms than go through that kind of pain.

A Happy Hallowmeme for you!

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

behind-the-mask-badgeOne week from today is Halloween, my favorite holiday of the entire year. This year, for the first time in … okay EVER, I am working in an office that does not allow the wearing of costumes. Apparently, the official company policy is “no frivolity in the workplace.” Umm, good thing TPTB weren’t here when that five-pound box of See’s was being consumed! Anyway, I have to have some way to observe All Hallow’s Eve or I’ll be super-depressed. So I’ve come up with a Halloween meme, and I hope you’ll all play along!

Announcing Behind The Mask: Who’s That Blogger? ! This is, appropriately, a meme of many faces. The basic idea is to present info on other bloggers and see how many of your readers can guess who’s who. What info and how you present it is entirely up to you! Choose your victims (famous or obscure, as you wish), decide on a concept and get busy! Write a haiku about each one. Post pictures of one single feature of each one’s face. Give a one-line description of their blog concept. Post three clues about each. Have your kid sketch portraits of them. Post song lyrics that remind you of each, or even just song titles. *I’m* going to post quotes from each that have appeared sometime, somewhere online, and you, my lucky readers, get to guess who said what!

And now, the rules:

  1. Obviously we can’t expect readers to pinpoint specific bloggers out of the billions and billions in the world! So you’ll have to give a playlist. Provide the names/URLs of all your “victims,” plus at least three more, for readers to choose from. You can do as many or as few Mystery Bloggers as you wish, but try to do at least three, and be sure your playlist includes at least three more names than you’re doing. And yes, you can be one of your own Mystery Bloggers!
  2. Don’t be afraid to include little-known bloggers you’d like to promote. If readers have to follow the URLs and do a little research, all the better! We don’t want to make this too easy, after all.
  3. You’re encouraged to use the faboo Behind The Mask badge I made, but please save it to your own computer by right-clicking. Feel free to adjust the colors if it will make you happy; I know how important a well-coordinated blog outfit is.
  4. Post your entry on Halloween Day only! That is, October 31st, whenever it hits your little corner of the universe. Then please be sure to let me know, so I can add you to the list of Behind The Mask participants.
  5. You’ve got a week. Spread the word!!!
