Blugly
I have decided that I have the ugliest blog in America.
This is not a mood. I went to bed at 7:15 last night and got eight full hours of sleep, so today I’m feeling like I could take the gold in perkiness. No, this dissatisfaction has been percolating since my first glimpse of Sizzle’s new look. Fresh, clean, uniquely HER. That’s what I want. I don’t want to copy her look. I want my own fresh, clean look that is uniquely ME. And my frustration has grown with every other blog I’ve visited that has a “look” I like. Mine is so boring and blah. I dislike clutter, but I think in my efforts to avoid it, I went too far in the other direction. There’s a huge area between “uncluttered” and “barren,” and I am way too close to the wrong end. It’s like the difference between this:

And this:

Or even better, this:

Unfortunately, I’ve yet to be hit by inspiration, at least for anything that would work with the name Pseudotherapy. Funny, I have no trouble at all coming up with concepts for other people’s websites. My own? Stumps me.
In other news, BRET HAS QUIT SMOKING!!! He’s on Chantix, and doing amazingly well. He’s even in a great mood most of the time. Of course it’s still early, but we are both encouraged by how much easier he’s finding the ordeal than we expected. Right now, it’s having something to do with his hands that’s bugging him the most. The nicotine addiction seems to be subdued by the Chantix. So far, it’s not too bad — especially for a guy who’s been smoking 40 years. Yay!

I can’t wait to see what you come up with when inspiration hits you. You’re one creative lady.
I need to redesign my blog, too. Tired of the M&Ms.
Congrats to Bret. What’s Chantix? Never heard of it before. Gum? Patch?

It’s a redesign bonanza! After the horrible IE crap on ‘Tree and the dumping an old pretentious design on mine I have at least started on mine… and am trying to change it in September.
Small idea you can ignore - therapists couch… in luxurious fashion?

Kevin: Chantix is a pill you take which blocks your nicotine receptors. You start taking it a week before you quit smoking.
Bec: That idea is actually along the lines of what I’ve been playing with! Like minds …

That’s great news about Bret!
You’re totally confusing me with this not blogging/blogging stuff but I’m just gonna ride it out. It’s good to see you.
When I come to your blog now I want to lay down. The background makes me sleepy cuz it looks like a mattress. Can you tell I need some sex? One should not look at mattress-like material and think “sleep.”

Sizzle: Hell, I’m confused myself! But at least it’s my background making you sleepy, not my content.

Maybe you can have someone help you redesign? That seems to be what other people are doing!
Go Bret! That is great news!

Just so long as you don’t make it look like that last one. Those colors are a little much.

Wahoo! Congratulations to Bret for quitting smoking!
I like the cleanness of your blog, but I can understand wanting to personalize it some too.

I don’t know that I would change it all up. I like uncluttered. Lately my blog has been too cluttered. I still have work on it that needs to be done, but I haven’t had the heart to bug Jester because I know he’s busy. I usually have a good eye for design though… I’d just change the background and keep the rest. The white on white is the problem. Maybe you need a pink couch or a black and pink one… Try making the mattress a color and see if it doesn’t give you a whole new feel.

Kim: I’m too much of a control freak for that. I’ve finally come up with a concept, too, so we’ll see if it works!
Vahid: The colors are what I like best about the room in that last picture.
Suze: Yes, it’s just too generic.
Winter: I would never let it get cluttered, but I want to feel “at home” when I come here. Right now, it feels like a hotel room to me. But since I was shooting for “padded cell” originally, what did I expect?
(That’s why the background is white - it’s not a couch or mattress). But I’ve started creating a new design, so hopefully I’ll like it better!
