The anti-votes

elephonkeyIt’s almost unheard-of for me to post anything of a political nature. I tend to avoid discussions of politics or religion at all costs. So you gotta know how much this is on my mind, if I’m actually blogging about it.

I fear that this year, more so than in any previous election, Americans are going to be voting against one candidate rather than for another. Voting for Obama because he’s not a woman. Voting for Clinton because she’s not black. Voting for McCain because he’s neither black nor female. Voting less to put someone in office than to keep someone out of office.

I hope I’m wrong. I hope we will all cast our vote in a positive way, for the person we deem most worthy of sitting in the Oval Office. Otherwise, we’re wasting our voice.

Steven and I have been discussing this… and we are very worried that something effed up like this WILL happen. Everyone is focused too much on certain candidate’s “negatives” rather than another candidates positives, or qualifications.

But isn’t this the way it normally works? Voting for the one you hate the least?

    Kim: Exactly.

Karl: Not for me! I always vote for my man Ahnuld, even if he’s not running. Keeps it simple.

I agree. Just too much divisiveness in American politics. Save us the trouble and just abolish the Republican and Democrat parties and things will be sooo much nicer.
