The current meme sweeping the ‘verse is so hot even hardcore antimemists are jumping on-board. Okay, a few purists like ajooja and Karl have not yet succumbed, but we haven’t given up hope yet. I am nothing if not a meme-lemming, so I present today the Duke Duo Desk in all its chaotic glory (click image to see a larger, uncataloged version):

Currently, we’re faking a desk with a folding table on loan from Sheryl. Bret *will* be building us custom desks come fall. In the meantime:

1. Bret’s chair, cushy black leather. 2. Bret’s subwoofer. 3. Dirty socks. 4. Oak and mahogany footstool built by Bret when I asked him to “throw together a footrest for me sometime.” 5. SJ’s subwoofer, muffled in thick towel because I can’t stand the vibration. 6. SJ’s chair, cheap blue giveaway from Freecycle. 7. “BRET” glass, handmade by Brenda. 8. Pink sombrero ashtray from Tijuana, overflowing as always. 9. Robbie the Robot, built from nuts & bolts and such. 10. Three-days-ago’s coffee mug, with scummy leftovers. 11. Empty cigarette boxes, and matchbooks from the Pink Taco. 12. Old cell phones we are saving just in case technology takes a reversal. 13. Bioshock player’s manual. 14. Bret’s wallet and iRiver mp3 player. 15. HP Photosmart printer. 16. Remote control for Room Invader. 17. 80-210 mm zoom lens for camera, next to conspicuously empty spot where Nikon D70s usually sits. 18. Trash Can beverage holder from Joe’s Crab Shack, always full of ice water. 19. Bic XXL ballpoint pen, which helps my CTS. 20. Measuring tape, for when I’m ordering clothes online. 21. Small spiral notebook I am never without. 22. Remote control for DVD player (we were watching Firefly last night). 23. Ziploc bag of cell-phone accessories for phone someone gave us. 24. Smart Glove. 25. Wacom tablet and mouse. 26. Pile of various printer papers, old spiral notebooks I occasionally refer to, and expired mail-order catalogs. 27. SJ’s new 500 GB hard drive, waiting to be installed in her new tower. 28. Cat shampoo I was researching online to see if it’s human-safe, because it smells like heaven! 29.
